Best brush ever. I am 90 years old I’ve had a lot of brushes by far this is the bestI did a lot of research on boar hair brushes, I couldn't seem to find any reviews for ladies with long thick, curly-wavy hair such as mine and was nervous about spending a lot on a brush that might not work. I ended up going to the Kent web site and took a chance on this model. Then I found the Kent brush on Amazon for the best price. I've only had the brush now for a couple weeks and so far so good. I have noticed a slight improvement in texture and shine to my hair. I'm thinking this may improve with time and use. The true test will be in the summer to see the effects of humidity (I live in the South) and how well the brush works in those conditions.I have purchased several Kent brushes of different kinds and all have been excellent, until this one.When it first arrived, the supposedly "pure white" boar bristles looked strangely multicolored. Many were very dark and a few of them were even streaked and tipped with pink and green as though dipped in paint. More to the point, many of them were roughened near the tip, with what seemed to be some sort of impurities, so that they tended to catch in my hair. I was unable to scrape off the rough, discolored ends. The smell was also unpleasantly chemical, like very strong mothballs.I first contacted Kent to ask whether this was normal. They indicated that it was possible to have different colors and textures of bristle, though I'd never seen it before. They did offer to accept the brush for replacement, but by then I'd also contacted Amazon, which took back the brush and sent a replacement. Unfortunately, the new brush had all the same apparent defects, except that the ends weren't quite so rough. The pink, green and brown bristles, and the smell, were still present. I decided to try and live with it, washing the brush several times in an attempt to remove the odor. But as of this review, the brush still has an unpleasant odor not present in my other Kent brushes. Because of the quality issues with this expensive brush, I would not buy it again, will hesitate to buy another Kent brush at least online, and cannot recommend them anymore.I was losing a handful of hair every time I brushed using my $5.00 plastic Goody so I decided to look for a better brush. My hair is very long and a bit fine and I wanted something that would go through it but not hurt my scalp. I have never spent this much on a brush, but boy am I so glad I did. This brush is perfect. It brushes really well without ripping hair out, it does not hurt my head and the best part...I no longer lose a handful of hair after brushing! It also does a wonderful job of smoothing the hair and making it shiney. It's made really well and should last forever. The handle is real wood, not just a wood looking coating and the brush is full size....I just love it. If only I had found it 30 or 40 years ago!I wanted to "Love this Brush" as well, and put lots of time and effort into researching the right model for my hair. As others have stated, this seemed like a good price to make the plunge. I have had issues of hair loss in the past and wanted to treat myself because of claims that a natural bristle brush really helps with scalp stimulation. Upon receipt of the brush, I found it worked the way I had hoped (albeit a short and stumpy handle that seems inadequate to the design). However, feelings of satisfaction and elation in opening the brush turned to panic when I truly examined the bristles and brush bed under a good light. Not sure at first what I was seeing or able to identify with naked eye, I decided to clip a hair and photographed with my camera days later. The below is an enlargement of the shot. Along with wool and natural fibers, I've since learned that carpet beetles as well as clothing moths are attracted to natural bristle brushes, which this consists of. Pigs can also be infected with their own type of lice (oh joy)... The brush, packing box, and all went into the dumpster early this morning. I am not a happy camper at this point even though Amazon has refunded my money. In true 2016 style, the seller has never expressed any liability for the "discovery" since it was fulfilled by Amazon quoting it "impossible" (to have occurred). Am waiting on a reply and guessing it's going to be a really long time...Having super-fine hair is a day-to-day battle. Finding the right haircare products is expensive. It isn't easy to find a brush that stimulates the scalp without doing damage to fine hair. But here it is. I really LOVE this hairbrush. It is the first time in years I really brushed my hair (I always use combs to minimize stress). I am so pleased with this, and will consider purchasing for family gifts in future. By-the-way, boar-bristle brushes are recommended for fine hair, but I have bought MANY that are too soft, and don't have stiff enough bristles to even reach my scalp. This Kent brush has bristles that are stiff, but have "give" --that is, they are just right for a scalp massage. Great product!Shipped as promised. Elegant for a hairbrush. Brushes nicely.Kent brushes are brilliant and so well crafted. I was hoping this particular model was the oval shape with the domed top, at a great bargain. It is not, but the next best one if you don't want to spend the big bucks. I've used Kent brushes for years and my hair is excellent - I most enjoy feeling so luxurious when I brush.
